Introduction
The Control Panel (not to be confused with your billing area) is the backend of your web hosting account, where you can perform many administrative tasks. Every Chillidog hosting account has its own control panel. Chillidog Hosting uses the popular cPanel software to provide you with a control panel. cPanel is very user friendly to use, is fast and provides many options grouped into different categories.
Accessing your Control Panel
There are three easy ways to access your control panel.
-
Open your web browser, and in the address bar type the following address: https://bell.chillidoghosting.com:2083
-
Navigate to your website homepage. After the domain name, type 'cpanel' in the address bar like this: http://example.com/cpanel (Replace example.com with the actual domain name of your website)
-
Login to your billing area. Under the **Services** menu at the top, click on the **My Services** item. In the table of services shown, click the **View Details** button. Under the **Information** tab, click on the **Login to CPanel** button.
You may wish to bookmark either of these links to your control panel, so you can easily access it again in future. Some people also find it's easier to save the username and password as a keychain or in software like 1Password, Foxmarks or Apple Keychain.
Logging in
To login to cPanel, you need to enter your username and password in the boxes shown. This is exactly the same username and password you setup when you first joined Chillidog Hosting, and can be found in your 'welcome' email. If you have since changed your password, then use that newer password instead.
Changing your cPanel password
If you have forgotten your password or you want to create a new one, this can be done by logging into your Billing page on the Chillidog Hosting website and following these steps:
- Under the Account Overview on the homepage of the billing area, click the View link next to services.
- On the My Products and Services page, click the View Details link next to your hosting details.
- On the details page for your hosting, click the Change Password tab.
- Enter your new password in the box (pictured below) and confirm the password in the second box.
- Click the Save Changes button when done.
Important: As well as changing the password for the cPanel, this will also change the passwords used for SFTP and Sequel Pro remote database access. You will need to update your bookmarks to reflect these new changes.
Can't access cPanel?
If after navigating to the cPanel page you are presented with a blank screen or an error message, it could be that your IP (computer address) has been blocked as a security precaution. This sometimes happens if you mis-configure something (like email or FTP) or if the server detects suspicious activity originating from your IP address. We have produced a separate knowledgebase article on how to unblock your IP, so read the details contained within that: http://billing.chillidoghosting.com/knowledgebase/68/Unblocking-IP-Addresses.html
